The two familiar Under-15 Girls teams played through regulation to a scoreless tie despite 19 shots on goal. Two overtime periods produced the same 0-0 result. The contest went to penalty kicks to determine the champion. It took 11 kicks from the mark to determine who would hoist the Kristine Lilly Cup. Both teams made their first kicks, followed by saves from each keeper in the second round. Surf keeper Ariana Zargarian, would prove to be the difference maker blocking her second Texan attempt. San Diego Surf earned the National Championship title, 6-5 in penalty kicks, and like the Under-15 Baltimore Bays, claimed the "US Youth Soccer Double".
